Software Engineer
Responsibilities:
Delivering functionality for internal software applications as well as custom development for clients consistent with approved software designs and best practices. Involvement in full development lifecycle. Responsible for ensuring all deliverables are high quality including software design and coding, as well as product and process documentation. Acting as a key contact for technical issues in areas of responsibility. Effective collaboration with other engineers, architects and managers to solve complex problems. Responsible for effectively solving technical disagreement with informed, rational dialog, within context of established standards and architecture. Executing against plans and demonstrating initiative, creativity, and innovation in driving ideas to fruition
Qualifications:
Ability to comfortably work within varying levels of abstraction from product strategy to high level technical design to detailed technical design to implementation. Should be able to clearly document and communicate objectives, requirements, and designs at these different levels of abstraction to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Must operate effectively in an open, review-oriented environment with defined processes and standards. Candidate should be able to take information provided and develop an understanding of objectives involving various aspects of customers’ needs. Analyze and express complex design ideas using standard software terminologies, methodologies and tools. Analyze product requirements based on understanding the perspectives and needs of end-users.Experience:
Experience with high level analysis of complex problems and abstract design approaches. Experience with object oriented design and programming. Experience with executing software projects through the complete software engineering cycle. 2+ years of relevant professional experience in commercial software development environment. C# and Java experience highly desirable. Experience with unit testing practices, use of unit testing tools or creation of automated tests.
Other Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of software development best practices and relevant industry standards. Understanding of relational database principles and familiarity with SQL. Familiarity with XML. Strong and clear oral and written communication skills. Experience with and certifications involving Cisco and Microsoft products preferred.
